THE BOBATH THERAPY

The Bobath therapy is a physiotherapeutic concept developed on a neurophysiological basis. In pediatric neurological physiotherapy, the Bobath concept (neurodevelopmental therapy) is a leading and solid basis for therapeutic intervention for prematurely born babies, infants, children and adolescents.

The Bobath therapy represents a neurodevelopmental approach when treating patients with cerebral palsy and similar neurological conditions. It points to problems which can occur as the result of damaged central nervous system, which affect the personal sensorimotor, cognitive, perceptual, social or emotional development. The goal of this therapy is to achieve the child’s maximum independence and a better sensorimotor development through gradual development of cognitive abilities, dexterity, speech and motor skills.
